Study abroad to improve your speaking and writing skills in University City of Madrid, Spain
From 3 to 14 July 2023 (or from 3 to 28 July 2023)
Spain Center for International Education (SpaCIE) launched the Skills Summer School (SSS) in 2021. The SSS or SS “Speaking and Writing Skills for Academic and Career Success” is a unique opportunity to enhance your skills to improve your university performance and/or advance your career. You will attend classes with world-class university professors and broaden your horizons in one of the liveliest and most beautiful cities in the world.
Don’t miss the occasion to embark on the 3rd edition of the SSS, a journey that can enhance your skills to succeed in your academic and professional career. Also, enjoy making new friends from all over the world and immerse yourself in Spanish culture, gastronomy, and life. In the process, we are sure you will discover something new about yourself.
The SSS is a two-week study program (with a workload equivalent to 3 ECTS credits), taught in English, in which students will focus on important skills they need to master to be successful university students and professionals, such as effective listening and reading skills, presenting to large audiences, or writing papers. In addition, students will work in small teams to deliver a presentation to the entire group, and they will practice their writing skills.
You can also follow a four-week study program (with a workload equivalent to 6 ECTS credits) if you wish to take our Climate Change Summer School (CCSS) with two additional weeks. This is a good option for students interested in gaining new perspectives on humanity’s most pressing problem, on their studies and on their career. The CCSS offers a high-quality multidisciplinary course, taught in English by leading professors from numerous disciplines (Art, Biology, Business, Chemistry, Earth Sciences, Economics, Engineering, Geography, Humanities, Law, Physics, Political Science, and Sociology) and by top professionals in the business world.
Other features of our summer school
Our summer schools are truly international programs that bring together students from all over the world, as well as some local students. Our courses are complemented by academic visits and cultural and social events.
The summer schools will take place at University City of Madrid (Ciudad Universitaria). Ciudad Universitaria is a university campus shared by the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (where our classes take place), the Universidad Complutense de Madrid, and the Universidad Nacional de Educación a Distancia (UNED), as well as other institutions such as the Center for Energy, Environment and Technology Research (CIEMAT). It has had the status of cultural heritage since 1999, with the category of historical site.
You can live on campus if you wish, in one of the many student residences nearby. You will be able to enjoy full board and room at very reasonable prices. And you will be between 3- and 9-minutes’ walk from our classrooms, depending on the residence you choose. In addition, you will be able to enjoy all kinds of complementary facilities, such as swimming pool, gym… depending on the residence chosen. Additionally, the Campus is within walking distance of everything you want to enjoy in the city, as well as the subway, parks… It’s great to enjoy Madrid!
